| Yellow Jackets pull away in second half, beat Christopher 60-43

Using a strong second half, the Chester Yellow Jackets pulled away from Christopher and beat the Bearcats 60-43 Tuesday night in the BDC West Division matchup.
With the win, Chester improves to 13-10 on the season and 5-4 in the West Division. Next up is a home game with Trico Saturday night at 7:45pm. Chester jumped out to a quick lead early in the first quarter but the Bearcats clawed their way back into the game and trailed 16-12 after the first quarter. Both teams each scored 11 points in the second quarter and the Yellow Jackets took a 27-23 lead to the locker room at halftime. Free throw shooting kept the Bearcats in the game in the first half as they were 10-for-15 from the charity stripe while the Yellow Jackets were just 3-for-6. The Yellow Jackets cranked up their offense in the third quarter. Using a smooth transition game and tenacious defense, Chester outscored Christopher 17-8 in the third and took a 44-31 lead heading to the fourth. Chester outscored the Bearcats 16-12 in the final eight minutes en route to the 17-point decision. Kyle Landon led a trio of double digit scorers with 17 points. Caleb "Scooter" Arbeiter tossed in 13 points while Greg Rowold ended the night with 10 points. When Coach Brad Norman removed Rowold from the lineup toward the end of the game, the senior got the loudest cheer from the appreciative Yellow Jacket fans in Colbert Gym. Chris Schwartz (9), Cody Mileur (6) and Jake Lochhead (5) also scored for Chester. Christopher's Eric Young led all scorers with a game high 20 points. |
