Lady Yellow Jacket fresh-soph wrap up season with 34-29 win over Columbia

Playing in their final game of the season, the Chester Lady Yellow Jacket freshmen-sophomore team wrapped up their season with a 34-29 home win over Columbia Saturday morning.

The frosh-soph finished their season with a record of 2-1-1.

Chester led 10-8 after the first quarter but found themselves down 16-15 at halftime after they were outscored by the Lady Eagles 8-5 in the second quarter.

Chester regained the lead in the third quarter after outscoring Columbia 11-8 to take a 26-24 lead heading to the fourth quarter.

The Lady Yellow Jackets outscored the Lady Eagles 8-5 in the final seven minutes en route to the win.

McKenzi Rucker led Chester with a game high 13 points while Sarah Liefer tossed in eight.

Maribeth Lawrence (4), Lindsey McCormick (3), Maddie Conner (3), Sarah Bindel (2) and Kaley Ludwig (1) also scored for Chester. Deanna Hohgrefe played but finished 0-for-2 from the foul line.

Liefer pulled down seven rebounds to lead Chester while McCormick and Conner each finished with six.
