Lady Yellow Jacket season ends with 66-28 loss to Red Bud in regional quarterfinals

Put away the basketballs and get out the track shoes and softballs, the girls basketball season at Chester High School is over.

The Chester Lady Yellow Jackets were eliminated from the Class 2A regional at Pinckneyville Monday night with a 66-28 loss to Red Bud. Chester finishes the season with a record of 5-20.

It was a sluggish start for both teams. More than two minutes into the game, the score was tied 2-2. Chester then went on a 9-4 run and led 11-6 with two minutes to go in the first quarter.

After a time out by Red Bud, the Lady Musketeers answered the bell. They outscored the Lady Yellow Jackets 11-0 over the quarter's closing minutes and took a 15-11 lead…a lead they wouldn't relinquish the rest of the night.

Red Bud outscored Chester 17-4 in the second quarter to take a commanding 32-15 lead at halftime and then slammed the door in the third quarter by outscoring the Lady Yellow Jackets 26-5.

Ali Ringering led Red Bud with a game high 26 points while Tara Hubert tossed in 20.

Taylor LaRose led Chester with eight points while Raelyn Rosendohl finished with four points.

Kaley Ludwig (3), Chelsea Schroeder (3), Kellie Dillow (2), Megan Marcinkowska (2), Marah Laramore (2), McKenzi Rucker (2) and Alexandria Fedderke (2) also scored for Chester.

Laramore led Chester in rebounds with eight while LaRose pulled down five and Dillow finished with four.

Laramore led in assists with three.

It was the final game for seniors Raelyn Rosendohl, Megan Marcinkowska and Kellie Dillow.
